Review: Stündenglass Modül

Tired of holding a lighter over your weed while turning the globes on your Stündenglass Kompact Gravity Infuser? Not happy having a collection of attachments and adapters to hook up your vape? Well, never fear! The Stündenglass Modül is here!

Introduction

G-Pen put out the Hyer a while back and there was extensive cross promotion with the Stündenglass. It’s basically a device that allows you to vape flower or concentrate (by swapping out the tank) through any kind of water pipe or bubbler, including the Stündenglass. It works well, but it has a couple of drawbacks.

Review: G Pen Hyer Vaporizer

Recently I have noticed that Stündenglass have been cross-promoting the G Pen Hyer Vaporizer as being ideally suited to pairing with their gravity bong. I’m a big fan of the Stündenglass Kompact so I decided to give it a whirl.…

Unwieldy

It’s a whole lot of stuff to manage on your table, first off. It’s ok, but it would be nice to feel like you had one device rather than multiple. Also, and this is a personal thing, I kind of like being able to dial in exact temperatures. The five color levels of the Hyer are totally fine, I just like a little more granularity. Call me obsessive if you must!

Fortunately the Modül fixes both of these problems. It entirely replaces the whole bowl assembly, providing a vape experience that feels like it’s built into the Stündenglass rather than Frankensteined on, because it is! And it also allows dialing in a direct temperature. Yay!

The screen is large and easy to read, and the controls are well thought out – the wheel/button combo feels good and the UI is smartly designed to take advantage of it. It’s specifically designed to be an accessory to a Stündenglass which is why the design works so well, but unlike the Hyer it can’t be repurposed to work with any other bong or bubbler you have.

Having said that, there is also now the Modül Dok, which is essentially a bubbler that attaches to the Modül in place of the full gravity infuser, making it into something much closer to a handheld device. I haven’t tried the Dok, but it looks cool! If you don’t mind using your lungs rather than gravity to draw the smoke, that is.

But Wait!

The Modül comes with a choice of tank – you can get either the dry material version for flower or the concentrates version for dabs. Whichever version you get the you can also buy either the dry or concentrates tank separately and switch them at will. The Modül is smart enough to detect which tank is attached and adjust the display and options accordingly.

As I said, I’ve been mostly vaping flower so I went with the dry tank initially, and… I was disappointed! I wanted to vape my flower but the Modül dry material tank wants to combust it. You can’t even set the temperature! It’s more convenient than holding a lighter over the bowl, but the experience is basically the same.

Great for Concentrates

Luckily I had also ordered the concentrates tank in case I wanted to switch to concentrates at some point. It switches out very easily, and works very well. I bought myself some resin from my local dispensary and went to town. This was a far superior experience, with everything working exactly as I would wish. But I was still sad about not being able to vape flower…

Got a bit of disposable income and a desire to upgrade your cannabis experience? Then read on, this might just be the luxury gravity bong you have been looking for! Introduction My first time smoking cannabis was a quickly assembled…

A Little History

Stündenglass was actually bought by Grenco Science in 2020. Who are Grenco Science? Why, they are the makers of the G Pen Hyer referenced above! So it’s no surprise that the Modül feels a lot like the Hyer, with the same solidity and cool magnetized connections. But, even better than that, the tanks are compatible! Yes, you can use the Hyer tanks in the Modül! You just need to unscrew the brass colored magnetic connection ring from the tank that came with your Modül and screw it on to the Hyer tank, and voila!

Why Does This Matter?

Because if you take the dry herb tank from your Hyer and put it in your Modül, it works exactly like I want it to! It becomes a weed flower vape – you can set the temperature and the time, and it even recognizes that it’s not the concentrates tank and gives you more appropriate options (lower temperature, longer session time)!

How To Vape Weed

How To Vape Weed

Vaping is a great way to imbibe cannabis without inhaling burning vegetable matter (in case you don’t like that) but without the delayed effect and uncertainty of edibles (is it working yet? Should I take more?). Vaporizers work by heating…

So why is the software capable of dealing with a dry material tank for vaping, but the one they sell only offers combustion? I don’t know. And I don’t care!

Even better news is that if you don’t have a Hyer sitting around like I do, you can order the Hyer dry herb tank on its own, and it’s cheaper than the Modül version!

Conclusion

If you like your concentrates then the Modül with the concentrates tank will work for you perfectly right out of the box. But if you want to vape flower as well then don’t get the Modül dry material tank, get the Hyer dry herb tank instead! This combination works perfectly and it’s how I’ve been spending my evenings recently.

One last tip – keep the tank clean, particularly where it connects to the body of the Modül, and keep that clean too. If you don’t the connection to the device can become spotty, which is annoying. But keeping it clean is pretty easy and completely solves the problem.
